From concept to offshore reality - engineer the impossible.
Your role in the story:
As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be part of a specialized and flexible department where you'll see your ideas come to life, from concept to fabrication to offshore execution. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams and contribute to some of the most impressive offshore operations worldwide. Whether you are working on innovative concepts, designing fit-for-purpose equipment, or working together with subcontractors, your expertise makes a direct and visible impact. Beyond delivering high quality engineering, you help shape the way we work. You share knowledge, challenge existing approaches, support the development of less experienced engineers and actively contribute to a learning and continuously improving organization. At Heerema, we believe great engineers never stop developing. You'll be given the freedom and trust to take initiative, broaden your technical scope, strengthen your leadership skills and, if you choose, gain hands on offshore experience on our world class vessels. During offshore execution you receive direct feedback on your designs for further future improvements. This is a role for engineers who want responsibility, influence and the space to grow, while making the impossible possible.
What you will be working on:
• Design and development of bespoke offshore equipment for our global fleet, integrating engineering and design in Inventor, including FEM analyses, 3D design and occasionally fabrication drawings;
• Preparing structural calculations, design reports, component justifications, test protocols and user manuals
• Realization of equipment with support from external subcontractors;
• Visiting fabricators to inspect and witness functional testing;
• Supporting commissioning onboard our vessels and acting as technical liaison for the crew.
Key ingredients for success:
• A Bachelor and/or Master degree Mechanical Engineering or similar;
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in designing of tooling and equipment: ability to deliver safe and reliable designs which meet project specifications. Experience in other industries than offshore is also valued;
• Multiple years of experience in a fabrication environment: ability to deliver designs with a strong focus on manufacturability and cost efficiency;
• Advanced knowledge of structural and mechanical engineering and a strong drive to deepen your expertise;
• Analytical, practical and solution-oriented mindset;
• Confident communicator in English ( spoken and written);
• Willingness to work temporarily at fabricators, yards, offshore or in our offices;
• A true team player who enjoys collaborating across disciplines.
