To strengthen risk-driven project management and improve cost awareness across all projects, we are establishing a new Risk & Cost Awareness Lead position within our newly formed Project Cost, Schedule & Risk department.
Your role in the story
As Risk & Cost Awareness Lead, you play a key role in embedding risk and cost awareness as drivers for project success. You support Project Managers and teams in identifying, quantifying, and managing risks throughout the project lifecycle; from tender to execution, ensuring risks are translated into financial impact and actively steer decision-making.
This is not purely a risk role. You operate at the intersection of risk, cost control and planning, making risk tangible by linking it to forecasts, budgets, and project performance.
As part of this newly established department, you will contribute to shaping how risk and cost are structurally integrated across the organization; pragmatic, consistent, and value-adding to project delivery.
You act as a facilitator, challenger, and advisor, ensuring that risks are not just registered, but monetized and linked to planning and cost forecasting.
You will work closely with planning, cost control, and project teams, leveraging SAP S/4HANA and the 5x5 risk matrix.
In this role, you lead the risk discipline within projects, with Risk Engineers reporting into you functionally, ensuring consistency, quality, and continuous improvement across projects.
What you will be working on
• Facilitate risk and opportunity identification workshops during tender, preparation and execution phases
• Apply and maintain the SAP S/4HANA 5x5 risk matrix and ensure consistent risk monetization across projects
• Guide and support Risk Engineers, ensuring alignment in approach, quality and outputs
• Support Project Managers in translating risks into mitigation actions and linking these to planning and cost forecasts
• Monitor and report on project risk exposure, ensuring transparency and timely escalation where needed
• Drive continuous improvement of how risk and cost are integrated into project controls
Key ingredients for success
• Experience within project environments (offshore, EPC, construction or similar), preferably in risk, project controls, cost control or planning
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate risks into financial and operational impact
• Experience or potential in leading and developing others within a discipline
• Strong stakeholder management skills: able to challenge constructively and influence decision-making
• Affinity with data, systems and project controls tooling (SAP S/4HANA is a plus)
• Proactive mindset with the ambition to grow within a developing department
