Can you see yourself working at the HWC? Seize your chance and who knows, we might see each other soon. Team leader - bilingual HAVO/Atheneum/Gymnasium junior years The function The current team leader is leaving her role and has accepted a position elsewhere, following a successful and long tenure at our school. The team leader is currently responsible for three key areas within the school: • the daily course of events in the team (pupils, parents, results, activities) • Staff welfare for team members (guidance and support, performance appraisals, coaching and assessment) • strengthening and implementing educational development (strengthening bilingualism, strengthening gymnasium, language proficiency and CLIL didactics, recruitment and PR, continuous learning pathway for internationalisation) The team The bilingual VWO years 1, 2, 3 / bilingual HAVO years 1, 2 team is an enthusiastic one. The bilingual VWO programme has many students who are following the gymnasium curriculum and combining it with a bilingual education. The teaching staff works based on trust. The further and careful development of education is built up through good mutual coordination. The team is looking for a team leader who understands what is needed and can further strengthen what has already been achieved. The context The team leader will join the school management, which also comprises four educational team leaders, the non-teaching staff team leader, the care team leader, two deputy headteachers and the headteacher. Based on the new school plan, we will focus on further organising our institution in the coming period. Two themes will be central to this, namely closer to the student and closer to education. In this context, we are critically reviewing and reshaping our internal consultation cycle, in close cooperation with year group coordinators and form tutors. This development also affects the way we manage our school. This means that the interpretation of this function may shift and further develop over time, in line with the choices we make as a school. The new team leader will be asked to contribute to this decision-making process. The new team leader will also be asked to take the lead in implementing the IMYC together with the director of the Amstelland International School in Amstelveen. This is a new and promising initiative. The Hermann Wesselink College is part of the Cedergroep foundation. Within this group, collaboration is increasingly taking place. The team leader to be appointed will also encounter this collaboration within the themes entrusted to them. For the execution of their duties, the team leader will be partly supported by an assistant team leader and a coordinator of internationalisation. The new team leader's responsibilities include: • Leading the team and contributing to school leadership and school development. • Further developing and strengthening the international profile within the team and across the school as a whole. • Strengthening and deepening the gymnasium. • Securing the current situation and improving educational quality where necessary. • Facilitating and strengthening educational developments and innovations, with particular attention to differentiation in the classroom and the further implementation of the ICT policy, and inclusive education. Fostering ownership among teachers/mentors and the team's self-direction, thereby enhancing collaboration and support for new developments. Job requirements Selection requirements • HBO or academic thinking and working level. • Management experience in education, particularly in the field of educational development, or an affinity for management. • Experience of and/or enthusiasm for bilingual education. Familiarity with CLIL methodology is recommended. • Very good command of the English language. Selection preferences • Experience working in the lower school of a broad secondary school community. • Someone who wants to commit to the school for a longer period of time. Within this context, you are able to create support for policy and development, challenge employees, and build a professional culture where holding each other accountable for agreements made goes hand in hand with mutual trust and encouragement. As team leader, when necessary, you will provide impetus to achieve the formulated goals and utilise the expertise of others. You will stimulate initiatives and translate your insights into educational policy. You will make substantiated choices. You are not afraid to step outside your comfort zone and offer new perspectives. You are familiar with the complexity of current secondary education and its challenges.
