Role: Workshop Chargehand
Location: Manchester, M17 1EH
Hours: 45 hours per week | between 08:00 and17:30 Monday to Friday
Salary: Between £46,074.60 - £48,461.40 pa DOE
Are you ready to take charge? As a Workshop Chargehand , you'll oversee workshop personnel and equipment, ensuring top-notch service and compliance with roadworthiness guidelines. You'll be the go-to contact for both external and internal customers, maintaining high standards of health and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
• Vehicle Maintenance: Service, repair, and maintain vehicles to DVSA standards.
• People Management: Plan and control workshop staff, manage break times, and support staff development.
• Customer Relations: Communicate with customers, build repair quotes, and ensure satisfaction.
• Job Planning: Plan jobs effectively, sign off service sheets, and manage workshop WIP.
• Compliance: Inspect and prepare vehicles for HGV MOT, maintain documentation, and uphold health and safety regulations.
Requirements:
• Knowledge: Understanding of HGVs, RCVs, and commercial vehicle repair.
• Experience: Proven experience in vehicle maintenance and repair, both body and chassis.
• Qualifications: NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance or equivalent, HGV Licence.
• Skills: Diagnostic and fault-finding skills, ability to read wiring diagrams, effective communication, and problem-solving abilities.
• Other: Willingness to travel and attend training courses as required.
