Project Cost Accountant - Rotterdam

People work closely together, think proactively and are given a great deal of freedom and responsibility. You will join an ambitious Finance team and report directly to the Group Controller. The role As a Project Cost Accountant, you are responsible for the financial integrity of complex projects throughout the entire project lifecycle. You ensure project costs, revenues, overhead allocations, subsidies and revenue recognition are correctly reflected in the general ledger and comply with IFRS and internal policies. Besides your day-to-day accounting responsibilities, you will play an important role in improving processes, strengthening internal controls and further developing project accounting within the organisation. You will be responsible for, among other things: • Ensuring accurate recording of project costs, revenues and general ledger entries; • Reviewing project actuals, accruals, work in progress (WIP), provisions and cost allocations; • Setting up and maintaining project financial structures within the ERP system; • Managing project invoicing in line with contractual agreements and project milestones; • Applying IFRS-compliant revenue recognition throughout the project lifecycle; • Monitoring overhead allocations and project cost structures; • Accounting for grants and subsidies, ensuring correct financial treatment and reporting; • Supporting internal and external audits and financial reporting; • Developing and maintaining accounting procedures and internal controls; • Contributing to process improvements and ERP optimisation. Who are you? • You have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; • You have several years of experience in Project Accounting or Financial Accounting; • You have a strong understanding of IFRS, including revenue recognition; • You have experience with cost accounting, project accounting and financial reporting; • You have experience working with ERP systems (Infor is considered a plus); • You are analytical, accurate and able to work independently; • You enjoy improving processes and strengthening financial controls; • You communicate easily with both finance colleagues and technical stakeholders; • Experience within a technical, engineering or high-tech environment is considered a plus.
