We are looking for a full-time Product Development Engineer who wants to help build innovative solutions for the retail sector. Depending on the knowledge, experience and qualities you bring to the role, the final salary may be either lower or higher. What will you be doing? In this role, you'll be involved in the entire process: from concept and design through to testing, implementation and optimisation. You'll combine hardware, software and cloud technology to develop smart systems that are deployed worldwide. We are looking for a colleague who already has some technical experience and understands the nature of the work involved. Within our close-knit team, you will be given plenty of scope for personal responsibility and initiative. You will work independently on your projects, but will also liaise regularly with colleagues both at home and abroad. As Rocateq operates internationally, a good command of English is essential. In time, you will share your technical knowledge with colleagues in Europe and America. In this way, you will contribute to the further growth and professionalisation of both our products and our international organisation. Your responsibilities will include: • Developing new hardware and firmware solutions; • Improving existing products; • Testing, validating and optimising prototypes; • Translating customer requirements into innovative technical solutions; • Collaborating with colleagues from various disciplines, both nationally and internationally; • Testing systems in the field, for example on projects in Europe or America. This allows you to see first-hand how our solutions perform in practice; • In due course, sharing your knowledge with fellow engineers in the field to ensure that new developments are successfully rolled out across the organisation. What do you bring to the role? • You have completed a technical degree or possess a comparable level of work experience and analytical ability at higher national education (HBO) or university (WO) level, for example in Electrical Engineering, Embedded Systems, Computer Science or a similar field; • You have experience with (embedded) hardware, or are keen to develop your skills in this area; • Knowledge of wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, mesh networks and the IoT. Knowledge of high-frequency radio technology is an advantage; • You ideally have knowledge of certifications such as CE, FCC, UL, NEMKO or similar standards; • You are analytical, practical and solution-oriented; • You find it interesting to translate customer requirements into innovative and workable technical solutions; • You work independently and take responsibility, but also actively seek to collaborate with colleagues from different disciplines; • You are open to travelling occasionally, for example for projects, testing or knowledge-sharing with colleagues in Europe or America; • You have a good command of English.
