Apply for this job
As an Operational Planner, you'll be at the heart of day-to-day operations. You'll ensure projects keep running by cleverly coordinating people, capacity and priorities. No two days are the same: one day you'll be adjusting schedules, the next you'll be resolving a bottleneck together with production, engineering, team leaders or our branches in China, Mexico, the US and the Czech Republic.
You'll be given plenty of freedom and responsibility to maintain an overview and look ahead. During your induction period, you'll get to know our processes first-hand and play an active role in the implementation and testing of our new ERP system. This will enable you to build up your knowledge quickly and become a key point of contact for planning within the new system.
Your planning brings calm to the hustle and bustle. You spot where things are going wrong, think ahead and ensure colleagues know where they stand.
Are you someone who enjoys solving puzzles, asking questions and gets a buzz from a schedule that ultimately adds up? Then you'll be a great fit for this role.
What will you be doing?
• Processing project plans and capacity requests in systems such as AWL-planner, MS Project, Navision, Dynamics and Power BI;
• In consultation with your team leaders, you will work out project plans and forecasts to schedule staff and, where necessary, temporary staff as effectively as possible within the available budgets, hours and priorities;
• Coordinating planning and available capacity with internal departments and overseas branches;
• Managing the central mailbox and handle requests in a structured manner;
• You'll ensure that all service teams are fully staffed and respond quickly when clients or projects need extra support.
Our team
You'll be joining a young and enthusiastic team of four colleagues. We work hard, adapt quickly and help one another where needed. There's plenty of scope to ask questions, contribute ideas and work together to improve the planning a little bit every day.
Solicitation in response to this vacancy is therefore not appreciated. Unsolicited profiles, CVs or candidate proposals from agencies (in any form) will be regarded as direct applications from the candidate themselves. No rights can be derived from these, and no remuneration is payable in this regard.
This will be your day
8:00 You start your day at the office with a cup of coffee. Together with your colleagues, you open the shared inbox, categorise the incoming requests and set the priorities for the day. You have a brief handover with the team and discuss staffing levels and ongoing projects with the production and engineering team leaders. 10:00 You process the latest project plans and man-hour requirements in the AWL planner with Louise (the Operations Planner). You schedule staff in consultation with the team leaders, taking budgets and deadlines into account. You work on keeping the operational planning up to date and identify any potential bottlenecks. 13:00 You have a meeting with Arjan (the Demand Planner) and Chiel (your line manager) to discuss the progress of projects. You identify where things might go wrong and help come up with solutions. In between, you have lunch with colleagues in the canteen or go for a short walk. 15:00 You analyse the financial reports and compare the available budgets with the required capacity. You work on answering outstanding queries, proactively seek out information and incorporate ad hoc changes into the schedule. 16:15 You work with the new ERP system, carry out tests and assess where the tooling can be set up more intelligently and efficiently for resource planning. As a key expert on the ERP package, you support the team during implementation and answer users' queries.
