Your impact on children's development As a youth health doctor at CJG Apeldoorn, you provide preventive care to young people aged 0-18. You monitor their growth and development during consultations and advise parents and young people on nutrition, behaviour, health, hygiene, safety and parenting. For the 4-18 age group, you will focus primarily on socio-medical support within primary, secondary and special education, working in collaboration with partners in the care chain. This includes participating in core team meetings in secondary education and providing advice on how to address pupil absenteeism. You will work closely as part of a team comprising paediatricians for children aged 0-18, paediatric nurses, doctors' assistants, health clinic assistants and a speech and language therapist. What are you going to do? 0-4 • You will monitor and assess the development and growth of children aged 0 to 4. • You carry out routine health checks and examinations as required. • You are responsible for implementing the national vaccination programme. • You advise parents on nutrition, sleep, crying, safety, development and parenting. • You identify, advise and refer children with medical and developmental problems. • You identify factors that pose a risk to health and take action where necessary. • You will act as a point of contact for nurses. • You will support our organisation in delivering youth health care services during the task differentiation project. 4-18 • You carry out individual and group health assessments, both preventative and on medical advice. You assess care needs and identify any potential problems at an early stage. You contribute ideas, provide appropriate advice and refer patients where necessary. • You will be the linchpin of a multidisciplinary team comprising nurses, care assistants, youth workers and educationalists. • You will develop and maintain a broad network of contacts with healthcare and paramedical professionals, mental health services, the education sector, school attendance officers and youth support services, and you will capitalise on opportunities for collaboration. • You work in a client-centred manner, engaging in dialogue with the client and tailoring the care provision to their needs.
