• Amsterdam • Utrecht Job opening: Internship in Social Legal Services (SJD) Would you like to discover what practicing law is like in practice during your studies? At Joosten Advocaten, as a Social Legal Services (SJD) student, you will have the opportunity to gain real experience within the legal profession. You will work on cases involving personal injury and labor law and see firsthand how law and humanity come together in the guidance of clients. Our office has approximately 35 employees, including lawyers, legal assistants, and an average of five interns at any given time. The atmosphere is open and collegial, with plenty of room to learn and ask questions. Many students continue to work with us after their internship because they not only gain knowledge, but also build confidence and experience. What are you going to do? During your internship, you will assist our attorneys and legal staff in advising clients and handling cases. The work is varied and educational, including: • Attending all meetings, taking minutes, and determining further action; • Conducting conversations with clients independently; • Consulting with the parties involved by telephone and conducting negotiations; • Evaluation, problem solving, and possible referral and guidance; • Maintain case files for each case; • Attending and preparing for court hearings. This will teach you how legal knowledge is applied in practice and how important communication, commitment, and diligence are within the legal profession. What we ask • You are enrolled in the Social Legal Services (SJD) program. • You have good communication skills. • You are eager to learn, enthusiastic, and responsible. • You can work independently and show initiative. • You are interested in personal injury and labor law.
