HSSE Manager Aramis
Would you like to contribute to a key project in the energy transition? The Aramis project is developing a CO₂ transport infrastructure that enables industry to reduce emissions by safely storing CO₂ in depleted gas fields beneath the North Sea.
The project partners are currently working together to finalize the technical design. Gasunie and EBN are taking a leading role in the further development of the infrastructure, while Shell and TotalEnergies remain involved, contributing their technical knowledge and expertise through to the final investment decision.
The project is focused on several key objectives, including the timely start-up of CO₂ transport operations, high system availability, a smooth and high-quality commissioning process, lifecycle cost efficiency, safety, societal acceptance, and future growth opportunities.
As HSSE Manager, you will play a key role in realizing this project. You will ensure that health, safety, security, and environmental considerations remain central throughout both the design and execution phases.
Location: The Hague (Rode Olifant)
Working hours: 32 to 40 hours per week
As HSSE Manager, you will be responsible for establishing and implementing all HSE management activities within the Aramis transport infrastructure project. You will ensure that the project is designed and executed according to the ALARP principle (As Low As Reasonably Practicable), with a strong focus on personnel safety, construction integrity, environmental protection, and organizational reputation.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations and monitoring relevant developments.
• Developing and promoting HSE policies, objectives, guidelines, and procedures.
• Strengthening leadership and safety culture within the organization, with a focus on safety leadership.
• Organizing and conducting risk assessments and HSE studies for both design and operational phases.
• Contributing to and following up on technical reviews and HAZOP studies.
• Ensuring security risk management is integrated into design and execution activities.
• Managing permitting processes and environmental impact assessments and implementing the environmental management plan.
• Driving strong HSE performance and collaboration among contractors and suppliers.
• Establishing and conducting audits and inspections and following up on improvement actions.
• Contributing to the development and implementation of the joint venture's HSE management system.
• Ensuring environmental considerations are systematically incorporated into both design and execution.
You will work closely with project teams, contractors, partners, and external stakeholders, ensuring that HSSE values are widely understood and consistently applied.
• A completed technical degree (minimum bachelor's level), preferably in Engineering.
• At least 15 years of relevant professional experience in a comparable role.
•
At least 10 years of experience in site-based projects (construction or operations), preferably within complex multi-stakeholder environments.
•
Proven experience in developing and implementing HSE management systems and safety culture programs.
•
Excellent command of the English and Dutch language, both written and spoken.
As a person, you are a strong leader who can unite teams and provide clear direction. You thrive in complex environments, make well-considered decisions, and effectively coordinate a wide range of stakeholders.
• A gross monthly salary between € 7,036 and € 9,607 (salary scale Cx) based on full-time employment, plus a fixed 13th-month salary and 14th-month payment (holiday allowance).
• A fixed-term contract with the prospect of permanent employment.
• An excellent pension scheme with a personal contribution of only 2.45%.
• 20 vacation days based on full-time employment.
• A flexible benefits budget, allowing you to tailor part of your employment package. For example, you can purchase up to 27.5 additional vacation days or choose to have the budget paid out.
• Extensive opportunities for training and professional development.
• A net monthly home-working allowance of € 24.50 and up to € 500 to properly equip your home office.
• An active staff association and various clubs you can join.
At Gasunie, we are proud to help ensure the reliable transport of gas, hydrogen, heat, and CO₂, today and in the future. Working at Gasunie means actively contributing to the energy transition, not just talking about it.
We are conservative innovators: pioneers who respect and build on what already exists. Our colleagues take initiative, support one another, and continuously invest in their own development. Safety is at the heart of everything we do, both to prevent accidents and to create a working environment where everyone can be themselves.
As a 100% state-owned company, we ensure that energy remains available to everyone in a safe and sustainable way.
You will work within the Aramis project, a collaboration between Gasunie, EBN, Shell, and TotalEnergies. Together, they are developing an open-access CO₂ transport infrastructure that helps industry reduce its carbon footprint. Within this joint venture, you will work in a multidisciplinary and international team on a technically and socially complex project.
At the same time, you will be part of Gasunie's Safety & Working Conditions (VA) team. Besides your project responsibilities, you will actively contribute to knowledge sharing and alignment within Gasunie. Therefore, you will attend the team day at least once a month and participate in weekly team meetings to share expertise, discuss developments, and maintain strong connections with the team.
You can apply directly using the application button on this page. Apply by 9 August at the latest. We will inform you around 11 August whether you have been invited to attend the interviews, which will take place on 19 August in The Hague.

HSSE Manager Aramis
