Vendu Rotterdam is looking for an experienced General Appraiser
Due to the expansion of our auctions, we are looking for an experienced general appraiser with a broad interest in art, design and antiques. Do you have the independence and experience to expertly help clients and contribute to the growth of our organisation? Then this is your chance.
Your role as general appraiser
You will have a versatile job with a lot of freedom and responsibility. One moment you will be appraising at a client's home, the next you will be working in the auction house together with your colleagues from Rotterdam or Maastricht. You will appraise art, design, jewellery, collectibles and household effects, draft clear reports and assist our clients in a personal manner during the auction process. You are also a substantive sparring partner within our team.
What will you do
• Valuing goods at clients' premises, at Vendu Rotterdam and at external locations
• Drafting valuation reports, catalogue texts and condition reports (Dutch and English)
• Professionally assist customers in taking goods for auction
• Act as a question and sparring partner for colleagues and management
• Helping out at auctions, viewing days and valuation days, sometimes also outside office hours
• Contribute to strengthening our network of contributors and relationships
What we expect from you
• You have proven experience as an appraiser, preferably within the auction business
• Independence and ownership
• Representative, customer-oriented and communicatively strong
• TMV certification is a plus
• Good command of the Dutch and English languages
• In possession of a driving licence

In our monumental building in the heart of Rotterdam, you will work with a team of enthusiastic experts who enjoy sharing their knowledge.
As a trainee, you will be fully involved in the process from valuation to auction. You will learn what really goes on behind the scenes:
• Help build and prepare for auctions
• Cataloguing art, antiques, jewellery and design objects
• Assisting with valuations and processing input
• Support during viewing days and customer visits
• Work in marketing, communication or research (depending on your profile)

For students who want to learn at the heart of the art world
Do you have an affinity with the art world and are curious about all areas of the marketing and communications profession? Does a role that allows you to work independently with your sense of brands suit you? Then apply for this unique internship at Vendu Rotterdam Auction House.
During this internship, together with an experienced marketing consultant, you will contribute directly to the visibility of Vendu Rotterdam and Vendu Dickhaut Maastricht. To do your job well, you will also work a lot together with the team of auction specialists and experts for the perfect implementation of the communication plan. You will draft short briefings for the offline resources, write copy for the various communications and, based on a content plan, ensure inspiring content (images and copy) on our socials.

As a marketing and communications intern, we will give you every opportunity to closely follow the auction process and you will fully help to give all auctions and objects the external attention they deserve. You will do this by, among other things:
• (co-)devising and independently implementing marketing-oriented actions
• Organising on-site valuation days where you are not afraid to pick up the phone
• Creating content for all social media accounts
• Keeping both brands' websites up to date
• Writing newsletters, blogs and press releases in Dutch and English
