We are currently looking for a GEN AI Scientific Programmer to join the team in Eindhoven .
This role focuses on raising systems engineering competencies in the high-tech industry by building on knowledge and insights generated through research projects with industry partners. The role follows the principle of "industry as a lab," meaning applied research is conducted in close collaboration with leading companies to ensure practical relevance and real-world impact.
The position involves applied research, methodology development, and tool development for the integration of Generative AI into systems and software engineering. The work focuses on digital engineering assistants based on Generative AI techniques, addressing the challenge of knowledge personnel scarcity by enabling faster data-to-insights in quality and knowledge management processes.
The work includes developing proofs of concept to demonstrate the problem, prototyping different solution scenarios, demonstrating the value, constraints, and benefits of these solutions, and supporting their translation into industrial practice.
GEN AI Scientific Programmer
Main responsibilities
• Conduct applied research into the use of Generative AI and Large Language Models for system and software engineering.
• Assess current engineering processes and identify opportunities for Generative AI integration.
• Develop methodologies, tools, and proofs of concept for AI-supported engineering workflows.
• Prototype different solution scenarios and evaluate their feasibility, value, constraints, and benefits.
• Develop and present methodological recommendations for Generative AI solutions that enhance system and software design, development, and operational efficiency.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to implement Generative AI technologies in line with project objectives and timelines.
• Provide expert guidance on Generative AI best practices, tools, and methodologies to engineering teams.
• Monitor and evaluate the performance of Generative AI implementations and provide insights for continuous improvement.
• Stay up to date with emerging Generative AI trends and technologies and assess their potential impact on future projects.
• Support the adoption of Generative AI solutions in industrial environments.
Requirements
• Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• Strong passion for using Generative AI and Large Language Models to improve system and software engineering.

Proven expertise in one or more of the following Generative AI areas:
• Retrieval-Augmented Generation with hybrid and multimodal retrieval
• Agentic AI for autonomous reasoning
• graph-based knowledge integration, including GraphRAG
•
scalable deployment strategies for real-world applications
• Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and software development life cycles.
• Proficiency in designing and implementing end-to-end AI applications.
• Experience with infrastructure setup using Docker and cloud platforms.
• Experience with Databricks and Azure is preferred.
• Experience developing and maintaining Python-based code architectures while following best practices.
• Experience designing and implementing evaluation frameworks for AI systems.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
• Ability to explain complex AI concepts to different stakeholders.
