Job description As a forklift driver in Schiphol Rijk, you make sure pallets and parcels move safely and neatly through the warehouse. You unload trucks, take goods out, weigh them when needed and place everything in the right location in the warehouse. After that, as a forklift driver you also handle internal movements. You bring pallets and parcels to the correct zone so the process keeps flowing and colleagues can continue scanning and checking. You work at a good pace, but you stay alert, because you understand that safe working and clean manoeuvring make the difference on the floor. Once the goods have been scanned or checked correctly, you are the forklift driver who manoeuvres everything tightly and safely to the right truck. You keep oversight, watch for mistakes and act immediately if you see that routes or loading order need to be adjusted. You work neatly, you think ahead and you find it important that everything is correct, because your work determines whether everything leaves on time. If you notice a pallet is not positioned properly or a load needs to be distributed differently, you handle it right away. You quickly coordinate with colleagues and make sure the work continues without hassle. You work 25 to 30 hours per week in shifts and it can happen that a shift runs longer when it is busy. That means you sometimes work extra hours and because of that you can earn more shift allowance for the work you do.
