Floral Design Instructor

As a Floral Design Instructor at the Boerma Institue, you will teach classical and modern floral design, guide international participants and represent the school abroad. The role includes teaching in the Netherlands as well as international travel.er The Boerma Instituut was founded in 1980 by Theo and Jose Boerma and is currently led by Jacqueline Boerma, fourth generation of a family with more than 120 years of experience in floral design. The school offers foundation courses, international programmes, workshops, masterclasses and the Master Florist programme (Meesterbinder). Our mission is to train participants from all over the world to become professional florists and floral designers. Responsibilities - Teach International Vocational, Advanced and Master Florist programmes, levels 1 to 3 - Teach hand-tied bouquet courses and floral courses for funerals, weddings and events - Provide private lessons and group training - Prepare lessons, order materials and create sample pieces - Coach and mentor students - Support competitions, events and open days - Travel internationally to teach and demonstrate on behalf of the school Requirements - Master Florist Diploma (Meesterbinder) with transcript - Average grade of 8 or international equivalent - Transcript must be submitted - Knowledge of the Golden Ratio, proportion, Fibonacci composition and asymmetrical floral design - Teaching experience at Master Florist level is required - Extensive portfolio of own work; the portfolio must be submitted before the interview - Knowledge of colour theory and correct nomenclature of flowers, plants and materials - Willingness to learn Dutch - English is the working language - Minimum of 10 years of professional floral design experience - Minimum of 3 years of teaching or training experience - Experience with international competitions and demonstrations - Valid category B driving licence - Strong
