Your job
As an Arable Farming Assistant within Open Field Crops, you will be at the heart of the future of agriculture. At the experimental fields of Wageningen University & Research in Lelystad, you will contribute to innovations in arable and horticultural production. This includes research into new crop varieties, innovative cultivation methods, fertilisation, crop protection, and modern mechanisation. Please note; a good command of the Dutch language, both spoken and written is a strong demand for this role.
Together with your colleagues, you will ensure that experimental fields and crops are maintained to the highest standards. You will work with a variety of arable crops and modern machinery, making an important contribution to research that helps farmers and growers further develop their businesses. What will you be doing? - Operating modern agricultural machinery for activities such as sowing, planting, fertilising and harvesting; - Managing and maintaining a range of crops on the experimental fields; - Establishing, carrying out and supporting field trials for research purposes; - Inspecting, maintaining and recording the use of machinery and equipment; - Working closely with researchers and colleagues to ensure the successful delivery of field trials.
