About the job
The Director, Europe Indirect Procurement - Plants MRO, Facility, Services leads indirect procurement for more than 20 European manufacturing plants and is based in Amsterdam. The role manages a global team of around 10 procurement professionals and drives enterprise-wide value through category strategy development, sourcing leadership, supplier relationship management, cost optimization and operational excellence. The Director collaborates closely with Operations, Engineering, Finance, R&D and regional plant leadership to support business objectives. A key responsibility is to transform Indirect Procurement into a high-performing, stakeholder-facing organization. This includes organizational design, building capabilities, implementing global buying channels and digital tools, and significantly improving stakeholder experience. The scope covers MRO, facilities, equipment and transport, QHSE, facility management, lab supplies and project procurement activities. The role ensures alignment with business needs, enhances operational effectiveness and manages risk. It ultimately maximizes Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) value across the global network.
In your future role as Director, Europe Indirect Procurement you will
• Develop and execute global strategies for all European plant indirect categories and CapEx procurement.
• Build and transform the Indirect Procurement organization by developing inhouse capabilities and driving a performance-focused culture of accountability and strong stakeholder partnership.
• Design and champion the adoption of global buying channels to enhance user experience and process efficiency.
• Lead major global sourcing initiatives (RFIs/RFPs), supplier selection, and complex contract negotiations, delivering TCO improvements and sustainable value across indirect and CapEx spend.
• Act as the key business partner for Regional Operations, Engineering, Plant Leadership, Finance, Supply Chain, and Legal, translating business needs into robust category strategies and sourcing plans.
• Drive excellence in planning, budgeting, compliance, and project execution for indirect and CapEx categories, ensuring transparency and measurable performance.
• Lead and develop a global team across four regions, build a strong talent pipeline, mentor high-potential employees, and foster a culture of collaboration, transparency, diversity, and continuous improvement.
We believe you bring
• A Bachelor or Master degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Finance, or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive procurement leadership experience in manufacturing, chemicals or heavy-industry environments
• 5+ years in global indirect procurement leadership for related categories.
• Proven success in leading global teams and driving large-scale transformation.
• Strong experience in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• The ability to influence senior executives and drive change in a matrixed organization.
• Deep understanding of procurement processes, category management and digital procurement tools.
• Fluency in English, both verbal as well as in writing.

• A permanent contract with a probationary period of 2 months.
• A gross basic annual salary including holiday allowance based on your knowledge and experience between EUR 130.000 and EUR 165.000.

Good to know
This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, based in Amsterdam, with a travel component. You will be reporting to the Director Indirect Procurement who is based in the US.
