Assistant Professor in Quantitative Marketing or Marketing Strategy Are you an ambitious marketing scholar in the field of quantitative marketing or marketing strategy? Please apply for this Assistant Professor position at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU). We seek to further expand our top-level research and teaching in the field of quantitative marketing or marketing strategy. Therefore, we are looking for internationally oriented, ambitious, and collegial scholars who share our passion for marketing with purpose. We specifically are seeking candidates showing great research potential with a track record of published papers or promising studies aimed at top journals. • Initiating, conducting, and supervising high-quality research • Publishing in top-tier marketing outlets and securing competitive external research funding • Teaching and course coordination in the BSc and MSc programs of the School of Business and Economics. • Contributing to the marketing department in providing executive education and collaborating with the business community and other stakeholders • Contributing to the Department / School through service and (eventually) committees • Be committed to obtaining a university teaching qualification, or possessing one already. • Candidates are required to have a PhD in marketing, business administration, information systems, or a related discipline. • A track record of research publications in top journals in the field of quantitative or strategic marketing, or showing strong promise through high-quality working papers aimed at top journals • Experience in, and passion for, teaching in bachelor and master programs • Interest in collaboration with industry partners and societal impact; experience with executive teaching is a plus. • Fluent in English (command of Dutch language is a plus). A challenging position with a socially engaged organization. At VU, you contribute to education, research and service for a better world. • a salary of minimum € 4.728,00 (Scale 11) and maximum € 6.433,00 (Scale 11) gross per month, on a full-time basis. The exact salary depends on your education and experience. • This can be converted into a permanent contract depending on performance in light of criteria formulated at the start of the contract. Candidates should be willing to acquire a basic qualification in teaching as demanded by Dutch universities (if they do not already have one). • The intended start date for this position is September 2027, earlier start dates are possible • A full-time 38-hour working week comes with a holiday leave entitlement of 232 hours per year. If you choose to work 40 hours, you have 96 extra holiday leave hours on an annual basis. • 8% holiday allowance and 8.3% end-of-year bonus • a wide range of sports facilities which staff may use at a modest charge We are a research oriented group that offers a stimulating environment and a dynamic international culture. Our faculty publishes in the major marketing journals, as well as several other (top level) outlets in economics, psychology, decision making, and interdisciplinary journals. We have a strong international network with many collaborations and visits across Europe and the US. The department offers courses at all levels from Bachelor to MSc and MBA, and participates in the school's PhD program. Our MSc in Marketing (in English, appr. 250 students) has been rated best in The Netherlands. The department's language of communication is English, teaching is either in English or in Dutch. We at the School of Business and Economics (SBE) at VU Amsterdam bring together socially relevant teaching and research in the areas of business administration and economics. We focus on real-life issues that have a huge impact on society, economics and ecology: from robotics to big data, and from job market participation to change management. Collaboration and cooperation, transparency and social responsibility are four keywords that embody our approach. Students, researchers and staff at SBE share real-world knowledge in order to devise solutions together to global economic and social challenges.
